In a landmark consolidation within the hygiene products industry, Kimberly-Clark has announced a USD 48.7 billion acquisition of Kenvue Inc., the former consumer health spin-off of Johnson & Johnson. The merger, which received clearance from India‘s competition commission in May 2026, will create a consumer goods giant with an estimated 10 brands each generating over USD 1 billion in annual sales.

The combined entity will significantly strengthen Kimberly-Clark’s presence across Baby Diapers, feminine hygiene, and adult incontinence products — all major downstream applications for nonwovens and absorbent cores. Meanwhile, Swedish hygiene giant Essity completed its USD 340 million acquisition of Edgewell‘s feminine care business in February 2026, adding brands like Carefree, Stayfree, and Playtex to its portfolio.

These strategic consolidations highlight the industry’s drive toward higher-margin categories and market leadership, reinforcing the critical role of nonwoven fabric and composite core suppliers in the global personal care supply chain.
