Guangdong is witnessing significant industrial upgrades across the nonwovens, PE film, hygiene products, and converting machinery value chain.

On the raw materials front, a RMB 300 million bio-based material project has been launched in the Guangqing Industrial Park. It will focus on producing bamboo fiber nonwovens, strongly promoting the “bamboo instead of plastic” green transition. Meanwhile, Guangzhou Light Industry Group invested RMB 3.38 billion in a Zengcheng base, expanding capacity for lithium battery separators and PE pressure pipes, significantly boosting the region’s high-performance film supply.

In the hygiene products industry, the Guangdong Hygiene Products Innovation Conference held in Foshan emphasized a shift toward “unmanned and intelligent” factories to meet stricter new national standards, especially tighter limits on formaldehyde and heavy metals, raising safety thresholds.

On the converting machinery side, Hongda Research Institute successfully launched a wide-width PE/PP bicomponent spunbond nonwoven line, breaking foreign technology monopolies and providing homegrown equipment for high-end hygiene material production. Additionally, Yanjan New Material patented a nonwoven + PE perforated film composite that improves the absorbent core’s fluid distribution and anti‑rewet performance, driving product innovation downstream.

These moves highlight Guangdong’s push toward green materials, automation, and self‑reliant machinery in the hygiene industry.
